The Uses and Misuses of Social Media
Social media is a set of online platforms where people share news, photos and ideas. It connects friends and families across the world within seconds. Students use it to join study groups and learn new skills for free. Small businesses use it to show their products to thousands of customers at a low cost. It also helps us to get news quickly and to raise our voice for social causes. However, it is often misused to spread rumours and fake news. Many users waste hours every day, which harms their studies and health. Cyberbullying and the theft of personal data are growing problems as well. Therefore, we should check every piece of news before sharing it. In short, social media is a blessing if we use it wisely, and a curse if we misuse it.
